The Prime Minister, Jos\u00e9 Ulisses Correia e Silva, said today in S. Vicente that the attitude and strength of young people who invest in entrepreneurship is what drives the country forward. \u201cWe have many young people with talent and an entrepreneurial attitude. The strength of young people, of young entrepreneurship, is what moves a country forward. And when I talk about the success of the country, I'm talking about the individual and family success of each young person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Chief Executive made these statements during the open conversation with the young people of Mindelo under the slogan Seize the opportunity, build the future<\/em>\u201d which was attended by hundreds of young trainees from the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training, the School of the Sea and the Cape Verde School of Hospitality and Tourism at the Tech Park in Mindelo.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were in contact with these young people to listen to them, but above all to convey the government's public policies, the ecosystem that integrates technical assistance, professional qualifications, favourable financing and taxation, geared towards employment and entrepreneurship, which has been very successful throughout the country,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

For Ulisses Correia e Silva, it was gratifying to hear the testimonies of young people in person. \u201cWhat best portrays the effectiveness and success of these policies is being able to listen to those who benefit from them, to hear the testimonies of those who have taken advantage of the opportunities, but at the same time to publicise the instruments made available to young people by the government,\u201d he stressed, adding that today, many young people are setting up their own businesses, micro and small companies, start-ups, creating income and economic activity for themselves, creating jobs for others.<\/p>\n

At this afternoon's meeting, Eurico Monteiro, Minister for Investment Promotion and Business Development, pointed out the projections for more than 11,000 beneficiaries in vocational training by 2026, which include 2,060 professional internships, 250 companies supported in hiring and around 2,000 entrepreneurship projects assisted.<\/p>\n
