{"id":3447,"date":"2025-07-01T00:05:14","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T01:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consultoria.cv\/juventude-no-campo-no-centro-das-discussoes-do-forum-regional-da-juventude-de-sotavento\/"},"modified":"2025-07-01T00:05:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T01:05:14","slug":"rural-youth-at-the-centre-of-discussions-at-the-regional-youth-forum-in-the-leeward-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consultoria.cv\/en\/juventude-no-campo-no-centro-das-discussoes-do-forum-regional-da-juventude-de-sotavento\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth in the countryside at the centre of discussions at the Sotavento Regional Youth Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>For two days, the municipality of Santa Cruz, on the island of Santiago, is hosting the Sotavento Regional Youth Forum, an initiative that brings together 120 young people from the islands of Santiago, Maio, Fogo and Brava.<\/p>\n<p>The event is being held at the Sema Lopi Cultural Centre and its theme is \u201cYouth in the Countryside: Building Local Roots and Global Visions\u201d, promoting dialogue, training and the active participation of young people in building sustainable solutions for their communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum focuses on strategic areas such as agriculture, livestock, youth entrepreneurship, the valorisation of local culture and sport, which are seen as drivers of social and economic development.<\/p>\n<p>At the opening ceremony, the Minister for Youth and Sport, Carlos Monteiro, called for a new perspective on rural development:<br \/>\n\u201cWe need young people who look at rural areas and see them as an opportunity for personal and collective growth. The government's programmes and those of our partners are aligned with this vision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister also highlighted the existing support instruments for young entrepreneurs in rural areas:<br \/>\n\u201cThe IEFP, Pr\u00f3-Empresa and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment have provided strong support to those who are betting on modernising agriculture, livestock farming and handicrafts as viable ways of generating income and local transformation,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Over the two days, the Forum offers a varied programme including themed panels, workshops, technical visits, an opportunities fair, networking sessions and cultural and sporting activities.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is part of the YouthConnekt Cape Verde programme, coordinated by the Institute of Sport and Youth (IDJ), with technical and financial support from the United Nations Joint Office (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA), and is in line with national and international commitments on youth and development.<\/p>\n<p>The post <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.governo.cv\/juventude-no-campo-no-centro-das-discussoes-do-forum-regional-da-juventude-de-sotavento\/\" target=\"_blank\">Youth in the countryside at the centre of discussions at the Sotavento Regional Youth Forum<\/a> appeared first on <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.governo.cv\/\" target=\"_blank\">Government of Cape Verde<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Durante dois dias, o munic\u00edpio de Santa Cruz, na ilha de Santiago, acolhe o F\u00f3rum Regional da Juventude de Sotavento, uma iniciativa que re\u00fane 120 jovens provenientes das ilhas de Santiago, Maio, Fogo e Brava.
