The Minister of Health, Jorge Figueiredo, who is visiting Sal Island, announced today, February 26, that work on the Palmeira Health Centre has been completed. The process of acquiring the equipment needed to equip the centre is currently underway, with funding from Belgium.
During his visit to the health centre, the Minister said that there will be a discussion with the health delegate to ensure, as far as possible, that the structure is equipped with adequate human resources for its full operation. “Palmeira is growing, it's now a small town and it really deserves these changes for the benefit of the population,” he said.
In budgetary terms, the work on the Palmeira health centre is budgeted at around 1 million euros, covering both the construction work and the equipment.
It should be remembered that construction work on the health centre began in 2022 and aims to strengthen the primary health care network on the island, the most touristic in the country, which is facing growing demand from the local population, emigrants and tourists.
