The Minister for Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira, announced that the International Cape Verdean Gastronomy Week will take place in July this year, as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of independence, during a Traditional Afternoon Tea.
The Traditional Afternoon Tea was organised by the Cape Verde School of Hospitality and Tourism (EHTCV), in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Transport, to mark Cape Verdean Women’s Day; on that occasion, the Minister emphasised that gastronomy is an essential part of our cultural identity
“For tourism to thrive, it must be sustainable, inclusive and have a strong cultural identity. Our cuisine tells our story, reflects the coming together of African, European and American peoples, and is a valuable part of our tourism offering. We’re not just about sun and beaches; we have so much more to offer!”
The Minister for Tourism and Transport reaffirms his commitment to promoting Cape Verdean culture and pays tribute to all the women who, through their dedication and talent, contribute to the sector’s growth.
