Minister of Health represents the Government at the inauguration of the Municipal Bodies of São Salvador do Mundo

The Minister of Health, Filomena Gonçalves, representing the government, took part in the investiture ceremony for the new municipal bodies elected in the municipality of São Salvador do Mundo, which took place yesterday, 19th December, at the N'Guli Lansa Shopping Centre.

In her speech, she emphasised the government's commitment to the development of local authorities. “The government will continue to be a faithful and committed partner in the development of São Salvador do Mundo, based on institutional collaboration and respect for the autonomy of local power as an essential pillar for guaranteeing the progress of all the country's municipalities.”

The minister also assured that the Executive, within the framework of public policies, has been strengthening the financial and administrative capacity of local authorities as a demonstration of consolidating a robust and efficient local power.

“The recent revision of the Financial Management Instruments and the draft laws submitted to parliament are examples of our commitment to creating the conditions for municipalities to fulfil their competences with excellence,” he said.

He urged the council of São Salvador do Mundo to work with determination and strategic vision to promote the socio-economic transformation of the municipality.

Ângelo Vaz, who was re-elected to a third term at the head of the city council on the MpD list, under the slogan “for São Salvador do Mundo for the people”, said that he will transform Achada Igreja into one of the “most beautiful small towns” in Cape Verde.

“This will be Achada Igreja's mandate. For the historic town centre of Achada Igreja we have three major investments at once: urban regeneration, the rehabilitation of the parish church of São Salvador do Mundo and the construction of a new health centre,” said the mayor.

Ângelo Vaz promised a transparent mandate close to Salvadorans.
