This Tuesday, 12 May, the health precinct on the island of Boa Vista received a set of new hospital equipment for the Surgical Block, as part of the Health Security Project in West and Central Africa, reinforcing the response capacity of the island's health services.
The purchase of this equipment is part of the process called “RFB Reference No. 028/HSP/UGPE - Acquisition of equipment for the Boavista Surgery Room” and includes various essential materials for the operation of the Surgery Centre, namely hospital medical equipment, specialised surgical instruments, hospital textiles and sterilisation boxes.
The aim of this investment is to improve the conditions in which health care is provided, strengthen the quality of surgical services and guarantee greater efficiency and safety in the care of users on the island of Boa Vista.
The delivery of the equipment is taking place in phases, with further deliveries planned in the coming days, as part of the ongoing process of equipping the Surgical Centre. All the equipment is expected to be delivered and installed by the beginning of June, allowing this important health infrastructure to be fully operational.
The initiative is part of the Health Security Programme in West and Central Africa, funded by the World Bank, which aims to strengthen the resilience of the national health system, improve the quality of services provided to the population and provide the country with adequate infrastructure and equipment for a more effective health response.
In effect, the government, through the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), is once again reaffirming its commitment to modernising and strengthening the health sector and promoting better conditions for care and expanding the response capacity of health services for the benefit of the people of Cape Verde.
