On the morning of Tuesday 29 July, the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Francisco Carvalho, welcomed a delegation from Huawei, a multinational technology company operating in Cape Verde as a strategic partner in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
At the meeting, which was attended by the Minister for the Co-ordination of Special Projects and Access to Funds, José Carlos Moniz Varela, topics of mutual interest were discussed, with a particular focus on strengthening cooperation between the Government and Huawei in the areas of technological innovation, digital transformation and the development of the country’s digital infrastructure.
As well as discussing the existing partnership between Cape Verde and the company, the Head of Government and the Huawei team also discussed the progress made in the ICT sector and the prospects for collaboration on strategic projects in line with the agenda for the modernisation and digitalisation of the public administration and the national economy.
The meeting also served as the official introduction of Huawei’s new representative in Cape Verde, Yin Shirun, who was part of the delegation received by the Head of Government, Francisco Carvalho. During the meeting, the company reiterated its commitment to continuing to support our country’s efforts to promote digital transformation, innovation and technological capacity-building.
