On 30 January, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing held a public consultation on the “Preliminary Draft Plan for the Urban Regeneration of João Teves” in the municipality of São Lourenço dos Órgãos, at Luciano Garcia Secondary School. The project was presented by the president of the National Institute for Spatial Planning (INGT), Dr Ilce Amarante, on behalf of MIOTH.
The project covers around 4,600 square metres and addresses social and environmental issues, including urban regeneration works, the installation of water, electricity and sewerage networks, road surfacing, and the creation of green spaces and leisure areas. The main objective is to improve the living conditions of the local population and promote a better quality of the environment in the city.
It is worth noting that this project forms part of the Programme for the Improvement of Connectivity and Urban Infrastructure (PMCIU), funded by the World Bank, and aims to transform João Teves into a better-organised, more attractive town that is well-prepared to attract future investment.
