The government's decision, in October 2024, to reduce the price of airline tickets to the islands of São Nicolau and Maio by 40%, increasing the accessibility and attractiveness of these destinations, indicates a significant increase in demand for seats on Cape Verde Airlines planes, the national airline reports.
Between October and December 2024, journeys to the island of Maio registered a load factor of 70%, with 2,312 passengers carried on 44 flights. Meanwhile, to and from the island of São Nicolau, TACV carried out a total of 81 flights, making 2,982 seats available and transporting 2,316 passengers, achieving a remarkable 80 per cent occupancy rate.
According to the company, this government measure not only boosts tourism and connectivity between the islands, but also revitalises the local economy, making São Nicolau and Maio more attractive destinations for visitors.
